On the basis of a carefully formulated proposition, young people engage in debate with each other on current social issues. Party political topics are avoided. The debate is led by an impartial presenter, Hennah Draaibaar. There is also a moderator/interpellant, who may interject at any time. She adds depth to the topic and highlights a different viewpoint where appropriate.
The program was broadcast twenty times a year from 2005 – 2010 on four different television stations in Suriname. Because of the high quality of the program, Krutu’s recordings also carry a high price tag. Lack of financial resources has resulted in it no longer being possible to record entire seasons of Krutu. However, there are occasional recordings commissioned by organizations that are linked to a particular topic.
