A conference for investigative journalists that began with a lecture on the theme of shame and ended two days later with a live online search, late into the evening, for the owner of a crashed drug plane in the district of Brokopondo. Such was the case in Suriname where, from June 6 to 8, 2019, the Check, Check & Double Check conference was held; a symposium modeled on the annual VVOJ conferences. With a chief guest that the VVOJ probably would have liked to have had itself as well: Christiaan Triebert, one of the first employees of research collective Bellingcat and current visual investigator for the New York Times.
